There are many reasons why litigants in family law matters do not have attorneys. People who file for a divorce or other family related matter without attorneys are called Pro Se litigants. The term “pro se” is Latin and means “for oneself” or “in one’s own behalf.”
However, pro se litigants have the option of hiring an attorney for mediation, which can be a benefit to both parties. In a pro se mediation, Ms. Goade speaks with each side, and attempts to bring adverse positions to a point of resolution. Then, she drafts and e-files the parties’ mediation agreement for them. The parties’ case then becomes a matter which can generally be disposed of in an uncontested manner.
Ms. Goade charges $275.00 per hour with a two- hour minimum, which can be paid via credit card. Many parties to family matters have found it money well spent.
Your mediation will be held via Zoom teleconference. Don’t worry if you are unfamiliar with the Zoom process. Ms. Goade will send out an informational email detailing how to download and access mediation conference.
Payment of Fees
The mediation rate is $275.00 an hour. A two-hour minimum of $550.00 is required and must be paid by credit card to secure the mediation date. We will issue an invoice using PayPal. PayPal accepts PayPal payments and payments by credit cards.
An invoice will be issued to one or two parties, as directed by the litigants. The name and email of each individual must be provided. The minimum of $550 must be paid to secure the mediation date.
If the mediation requires additional time, which many pro se litigants find worthwhile in order to bring a conclusion to their litigation, the time will be billed at $275 an hour in increments of 15 minutes.
At that time, we will issue another invoice using PayPal. If you have a PayPal account, you may use that or pay the invoice with a credit card. The bill may be split among two parties if requested.
Please note that payment in full is required at the conclusion of the mediation.
